David is an instinctive peacemaker and reconciler, which, added to his twenty-plus years of resolving business and workplace disputes and facilitating difficult conversations, brings a special insight into how people get into difficulties, and how they can be helped to get out of them.
He is a member of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s mediation advisory group and was involved in facilitating conversations that led to the positive vote on women bishops. The group is currently facilitating thirteen area conversations within the Church of England on Human Sexuality.
He has been a prominent trainer of all things mediation for nearly twenty years and in particular in foundation and advanced training for business mediators. He also leads seminars raising awareness of how disputes arise, how they can be effectively managed and how they can be resolved with the minimum of damage to people and businesses.
David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Mediation) and is also accredited by the International Mediation Institute, CEDR, MATA, Regents College in London and Endispute in Boston and he is an alumnus of the Harvard Law School Advanced Mediation Program. He is a member of PIM Senior Mediators.
Prior to becoming a full-time commercial Mediator and trainer he was a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager and he wrote the award-winning “Mediation of Construction Disputes”, published by Blackwells and aimed at users of mediation. He has just published “How to Master Commercial Mediation”, published by Bloomsbury Professional, aimed at Mediators at every stage of their development.
He has extensive experience in many sectors including:
