Oliver’s great talent as a litigation solicitor was helping businesses settle disputes without going to court, often injecting a heavy dose of realism and common sense into challenging situations. His approach of placing the client’s interests as the paramount factor led to more and more early dispute resolution because the costs, risk and time of taking matters to Trial were often prohibitive. This approach led to Oliver providing resolution advice even prior to the start of litigation. The results of such advice for clients were substantial in that the significant legal costs were not incurred, risk was minimised and the unrecoverable management time taken from the client was avoided.
As a Commercial Litigator Oliver spent over a twelve years in three private practice law firms both in London and the Midlands where he specialised in advising on disputes in the following areas:
- Shareholder and Partnership
- Joint Venture
- Construction, Building and Boundary
Oliver was an integral part of a small team that conducted a 65-day High Court action involving a disputed joint venture relating to large areas of development land in the Home Counties. He also independently led multiple High Court actions as well as numerous County Court claims both acting for Claimants and Defendants.
Oliver also provided contractual and general legal advice to a variety of household sporting names including two World Champion boxers. This work included drafting and negotiating contracts in relation to:
- Promotional Events
- Broadcast and Media Rights
- Sponsorship and merchandise
- Venue Hire
Outside work he is former Chair of London Wooden Spoon (the rugby’s charity for socially, mentally and physically disadvantaged children) and he is now Chair of Bedfordshire Wooden Spoon.
Together, from different career paths, Oliver and David now utilise their collective experiences and knowledge to assist and facilitate parties in Dispute Avoidance, Dispute Management and Dispute Resolution
"How do you get a result when the other side won’t engage and deal with your problem?
One way is to use an expert in dispute resolution, such as the Dispute Resolution Partnership. I had been in dispute with a major retailer for over six months concerning defective goods and was getting nowhere. I consulted Oliver Richbell of the Dispute Resolution Partnership who advised on a strategy that produced the desired result within little over seventy two hours; proof that a fair and equitable outcome is achievable without recourse to expensive litigation."
"I felt that throughout Oliver went over and beyond my expectations and this resulted in an outcome that was more than I had hoped for. Despite my case probably being a very small fish he treated me as if I was his only client.
I was not just another file but an actual person who Oliver took the time to get to know and to also get to the root of the problem. This is why I think he was so successful."
"Oliver Richbell is a friendly approachable character. He is professional and takes his role very seriously and will always offer the best possible advice tailored to the clients needs. I would thoroughly recommend his services."
"I’ve known Oliver Richbell for the last eight years. He is an excellent solicitor who responds quickly and efficiently in every situation that I have used him for.
I have recommended him to a number of my former members of my Academy for Chief Executives Group and will continue to do so. He is a man of the highest integrity and is exceptionally personable and approachable. I do not hesitate in recommending him highly to colleagues and friends alike."
"Olly Richbell has a great professional approach all round. He makes you feel at ease and explains in lay man`s terms.
I would not hesitate recommending Olly to anyone."
